6 Productivity Tips – for solo entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur the buck stops with you. You are the whole team.. nah the whole business most of the time!

So when it comes to getting s*!h done it is important that you have a plan, that you can execute and deliver when you need too.

As an entrepreneur I have tried and failed a few times. So I thought now that I am on right track, I would share some of my wisdom that got me here. Here are the top 6 things I do to make sure I deliver at a higher rate every week without burning out!

  1. Do something you are passionate about – This is the most important on the list. They say that if you work hard for what you love it is passion, if you work hard for what you don’t its stress – I don’t know who “They” are but damn they are right! You need to find the alignment of who you want to work with and how you want to work with them. This is direct the travel of the business to passion.
  2. Clear intentions – You are only one person (to start with) so you need to accept that you can only achieve so much. I find the best way to achieve the most is to set 3 clear intentions a day and get them done first. These 3 things will always be focused on moving the business forward not just working in the business.
  3. Set timers – If you struggle to start an item – set a timer. I use 45 minute windows as they work best for me. So I set a task, a timer and then crack on for that time. Once the timer rings I go make tea! However, I also use the timer trick for another problem – when I want to do something like “quickly check my social media” we know the rabbit hole! So again I set the timer for 30 minutes and when it rings I got back to work!
  4. Plan meals – Now I know you will be confused here but hear me out. I find that when I plan my meals for the week on a Sunday it gives me more brain space to do other things. I don’t have to worry about it every day because the plan is already. This also means I am eating healthy meals and looking after my body which makes life easier!
  5. Hydrate – You will be surprise how much better your brain and body function when you drink 1.5 – 2 litres of water a day. Now for some of you that will seem crazy – just start with 3 glasses a day, one when you wake up, one at lunch and one before dinner. It will help SOOO much!
  6. Community – This is last on the list – but definitely one of the most important elements. Having a community of people that are in the same place as you is so important. You want to find like-minded people that will help you move forward on your journey, that will celebrate your successes even more than you will yourself. Call them your tribe, gang or community – it is all about the feeling of not being alone.

When I run my Blueprint to business success program, I have over 40 training videos, loads of live sessions, loads of Q&As, templates – the whole shebang – however I always get the same feedback first – I love the community and knowing that I am not alone and other business owners feel the same!

Remember to look after yourself first – self-care is important – and once you get really good at it, you will be so much better at business and life in general!
