Do you have the luck of the Irish in business?

Business can’t be built on luck alone.

We need the supporting strategy and mindset.

I want to breakdown my full business strategy. I want to show you each piece of the puzzle, how they link together, and how you can ensure success. Rather than bet on luck.

As a half Irish, half South African, I am a good mix of belief and hard work. And maybe alcohol, but that’s another story.

Growing up my Irish Grandad – Joe – was such a huge influence. He ran his own business and taught me a few key lessons in life.

  1. You can’t rely on anyone else for what you desire
  2. You can have anything you want in life

When I started my own business, we would talk regularly about it, and even though the whole “online” thing wasn’t what he knew, he was supportive.

He would celebrate my wins with me. He would get excited and be happy to talk about the next opportunity or growth that would come from it. Always with an excited ear to hear about my success!

Helping me always reach for more, but also showed me how to be happy with what I had.

Then I lost him.

Last year I lost my Grandad, on my Birthday.

This was bitter sweet. Such a loss, but such an honour to share such a treasured day with my best guide.

This loss caused a shift. It released something in me. Like I knew it was time. I was done playing small. Done being safe. This was my moment to show the world everything I was capable of, to take the risks, put myself out there more.

You see my Grandad and Gran did this in their life. Moving from Ireland when they had 3 children, settling in a foreign country, and building up to a great life. It had taken great courage and strength. And I felt I had inherited that on his passing. What a wonderful gift.

I hired a coach, worked through the beliefs that held me back and fine tuned my strategy. Knowing that I needed to step up and into everything that was meant for me.

When I launched my 12-week group program again, I increased my sales by 46% and right now I want to show you how.

The Strategy that got me the results.

I say Strategy, but in truth, it was the combination of strategy and mindset. I needed to realise the limiting beliefs of what I felt was available to me. Understanding that I can always have more, I can have it all. But belief alone will not deliver what you desire. You need to create the space and containers to hold all the good things coming you way. Cue the best strategy for micro-business owners!

The Core areas!

  • Business Focus – your why, who, what, how!
  • Landing page for email collection
  • Freebie
  • Email Sequence
  • Sales Page

Now so many people try to make this complicated. I am here to tell you it doesn’t need to be. But just because we make it simple, doesn’t always need it will be easy. I have had moments of wanting to throw my laptop out of a window – like almost every business owner. However, once you understand the ideas behind the strategy, you will see the ease that can be used to deliver them.

So I am going to take you through each of these 5 areas in a bit more detail, to help you see exactly what you are missing in your business and how you can attract more clients, earn more money but also create more boundaries and free time! Sounds impossible I know, but myself and my clients are living proof that it is not only possible, but can be simple too.

Business Focus – your why, who, what, how!

Understanding and being clear on your business focus is the first step. This will help you move in the right direction with more confidence. Which is always a win.

So how do we make this happen? Honestly, it is about thinking, journaling, and giving yourself time.

Starting off you can grab a piece of paper and answer these questions (I call them strategic journal prompts)

Why?

  • Describe exactly what you want your life to look like
  • Why do you want to run a business?
  • What are your non-negotiables in life?

Who?

  • Who do I want to work with?
  • What can I help them with?
  • Who is on my no list?

What?

  • How do I like working with people?
  • What approach will best achieve my “why life”?
  • How do I not like working with people?

And then the How we will explore below!

Landing page for email collection

Once you have your focus, you should know who you want to work with and what you want to offer them! Now you can start the process to helping your ideal customer find you and choose to work with you!

Imagine your ideal customer is scrolling through social media, they come across a message that offers them someone important that will help them with the problem they have. It is being offered for free, and will be sent directly to their email box. This is heavenly for you ideal client, and for you!

Now in order to make this happen, you need what we call a Landing Page. This is a webpage that captures someone’s email address. The easiest way to build one is in an Email Management System, like MailChimp, Convertkit, etc.

It would look like this – click here

And the best way to get a sign up is to create the “thing” your ideal customer really wants. This is called a Freebie!

Freebies

I love this piece of the strategy, this is the time you get to give away your most juicy information in exchange for just an email address! Meaning you can help loads of people, even the ones that can’t afford to work with you right way.

By using this marketing method of adding value, you are ensuring that you don’t try to push, scare or force people to work with you – we all know the feeling and it is NOT good.

A good freebie needs to tick a few boxes

  • Is it something your ideal client needs or wants right now?
  • Does the information add loads of value and show you are an expert?
  • Will it show them how you can help them and change their life?

When creating a freebie it can be anything, you can create an eBook, checklist, videos, templates, planners, the list is truly endless. But think about what shows you off best, and what you ideal customer would most enjoy and benefit from!

Email Sequence

Once someone signs up to your freebie, they have given you their email address. Now is the time to add EVEN MORE VALUE!

You want to help your ideal client get to know, like and trust you. And the best way to do this is send them a few welcome emails once they join your list!

So creating an automated mailing sequence in Mailchimp is exactly what you need to do, it will send out as soon as people download the freebie and start to add value immediately.

In these emails, you want to include, your own story, access to additional value, like your blogs, social media pages, videos, etc. You can also talk about clients, your main offers (but don’t sell them). This is just about increasing awareness of what you do.

In the very last email you can make a small offer, not everyone will take this up. But some of your customers will be ready for more, ready to dive deeper, ready to work with you!

I always suggest an easy low-ticket offer at this point, but you can lead to anything you want. So close to the last email you will be say “guess what, I have this amazing thing just for you!” and you will tell them about the offer. This is were a sales page becomes important.

And you start to be able to earn money in you sleep! The dream I know!

Sales Page

Now this is the first element of asking a potential customer to part of money. Some customers will stay on your list a few months before they decided to take this step. While others will do it straight after the welcome email sequence.

The key thing is that you sales page has to tell them what they will get and why it is right for them!

Here is an example of a sales page that I include in my email sequence – click here

And now for the really important thing – your first sale needs to be a VALUE OVERLOAD! So when someone buys my Power Plan as an example, they get WAY more then £97 worth of value. If they do the work when they purchase, they could start earning more money and have more business clarity in just 3.5 hrs!

Previous clients have launched membership creating a £800 reoccurring revenue in just 3 days! Another client landing 2 new clients straight after going through the course and tweaking their approach. Everyone has the best Aha moments and build closer relationships with their clients after doing the work!

So why is this important?

At this point your ideal customer is still new to your world! They need to know what you have to offer them and that working with you means great value. The easiest way to do this is too over deliver, and give them so much value up front. I work on the principle that I ALWAYS over-deliver for my clients, it makes me feel great, gets them the best results and has me receiving referral messages regularly! That is a win, win to me!

But how do you start?

Easy! Answer the questions in the Business Focus section of the blog! I have given you the steps, the thought process, you just need to do the work!

And if you want more support, want to know even more to get you on the right track, keep you moving forward. You can always download my eBook – The 7 Secrets to Business Success which covers the 7 core areas every small business owner needs to know AND how to skip the most common mistakes.
